The Empower Kingston Green Jobs Program pairs local clean energy employers with individuals seeking to learn new skills in one of the fastest growing job sectors. New York State had 157,700 clean energy workers at the end of 2020, representing 12% workforce growth since 2015. The sector has largely rebounded from the pandemic-led jobs downturn.

$18 an hour. Trainees are provided with tools and an amazon gift voucher to purchase work boots.
-
The decision to hire trainees for further work rests solely with the participating businesses. Many of the employers have previously hired interns as full-time employees.
-
Students with cars or rides are preferred and carpooling is encouraged.
However, CLP has limited funding to assist with transportation to Kingston locals.
-
Trainees must have internet access and access to an internet-equipped device in order to complete a virtual OSHA 10 course; trainees could potentially complete this course through public internet sources such as the library. Various other resources will be accessed via the internet, so a smartphone or computer is strongly recommended.
-
Benefits of the program include hands-on experience, forging relationships with respected local contractors, the opportunity to apply for continuing training through SUNY Ulster, and continuing career advice from Ulster County, which is a supporter of the program.
