Meet the Board

Communities for Local Power (CLP) was founded in 2013 by ten women who affectionately referred to themselves as the organization's "kitchen cabinet." The kitchen cabinet continues to meet weekly in Kingston, NY, just down the road from our original home, Rosendale, NY, a town of 6,000 people in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Founding Board Members:

Manna Jo Greene, former Environmental Director of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, currently serves as Ulster County Legislator representing District 19 Rosendale and Marbletown.

Jen Metzger is the County Executive of Ulster County. Previously she represented the 42nd district in the New York State Senate from 2019 to 2020 and served on the Rosendale Town Board.

Troy Ellen Dixon, CLP Board Member
  • Troy Ellen is a consultant with Radio Kingston on their underwriting program, which supports the Radio Kingston Community Fund. She is a founding member of the Kingston Emergency Food Collaborative (KEFC) and is a member of the TapRoot Community Land Trust board of directors.

Pat Courtney-Strong, CLP Board Member and Treasurer
  • Pat Courtney Strong has 25 years of experience in providing strategic counsel to clients that are leading the clean energy transition. She provides marketing communication services to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and others.  As a Rotary International activist, Pat is leading two projects in Ukraine to install solar on several hospitals and schools and provide solar career education to veterans.

  • Former Vice President for Special Global Initiatives and VP for Development and Public Affairs, Bard College; translator of philosophy and poetry from Germany.

Melinda McKnight, CLP Secretary
  • Local business owner of a business that transitions building off fossil fuels, preservationist, and historian.
